imageI guess from looking at my Facebook photos, people might look at my life and think “It must be so cool getting to hang out with your kids all day.”

Hanging out implies conversations that go like this:

“Hey, shall we grab some food?”

“Yeah, I’ll just grab my coat.”

“Cool, I’ll just nip to the loo.”

“Ok.”

Conversations during my day go more like this:

“Hey, are you hungry?”

SILENCE.

“Hey, what would you like to eat? It’s lunchtime.”

SILENCE

“I’m hungry. How about you? What do you fancy to eat today?”

“Bumcracks.”

“OK, but what else? Fishfingers? Shall I make some plain pasta with tuna, slightly warmed, on the side?”

“No.”

“Ok, but you like that. Or how about sausages? A ham sandwich? What would you like?”

“Mummy, the baby has eaten a Lego.”

“HAS SHE?”

“No. But she stinks.”

“OK, I’ll just change her, then we can make some food.”

“I’d like an ice cream.”

“Maybe for pudding. Pass me the nappies please. Oh god, no.”

“What is it Mummy?”

“A big one. WHERE ARE THE WIPES? I put them right here. Can you grab me some from the kitchen, please?”

“I can see her bumcrack! Can I have an ice cream?”

“It’s on my arm.”

“Can I have an ice cream?”

“Stop kicking. Don’t touch it!”

“Can I have an ice cream? Please Mrs Bumcrack.”

“You said please, so yes.”

This isn’t hanging out.

    1. My two are obsessed with the word “bumcrack”. They have entire conversations about who has the biggest/longest/deepest bumcrack! Once the chatting starts, you’re in for a real treat! 🙂 Thanks for reading! xx
