It struck me the other day, as I was sitting in a music class singing about Sheldon the Shark, what was missing. Men.
Since I was 12 years old I’ve enjoyed hanging out with boys as much as girls and as many of my good friends are men as they are women. The workplaces I have enjoyed the most are those with a good smattering of men in my vicinity. I wouldn’t say I’m a tomboy but I’ve never seen Dirty Dancing or Pretty Woman, I loathe shopping and my favourite TV shows as a kid were wrestling, weight lifting and the weather.
I enjoy male company, the ease, the humour, the jostling, and that is something that is so utterly lacking in the day to day. No wonder I look forward to my Amazon and Ocado deliveries so much – that ten second demand for a signature makes me want to crack open the beer.
And that got me thinking about how many stay at home Dads there actually are around. And do they want to hang out?
